City of Houston - Sunnyside Multi-Service Center
Owner: City of Houston
Architect: Kirksey MEP Engineer: Infrastructure Associates |
PROJECT BACKGROUND
The existing Sunnyside Multi-service Center is one of the oldest Multi Service Centers operated in the City of Houston. Due to the age and condition assessment of the building, the city approved the construction of a new $24MM Sunnyside Multi-Service Center to replace the existing. The new center will offer Houstonians medical services and health screening, dental clinics, medical clinics, TB testing, and various other community related services. Total isolation of the TB testing area is required for tuberculosis diagnosis by medical standards to avoid spread of Mycobacterium. IA provided HVAC system design to assure isolation and confirmation of negative air pressure in the testing area in accordance applicable standards. New state of the art Roof Top HVAC units coupled with exhaust hoods within the testing area facilitated negative air pressure requirements for the area. Electrically, due to the critical nature of this facility for the local community, IA provided for a 750 kW natural gas generator to back up the 1600 A 480Y/277 VAC service for the building. Plumbing systems utilized low-flow fixtures for environmental benefit. |
