PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Young Library is one of the 53 Houston neighborhood libraries serving public since mid 70’s. The facility is located in a small shopping strip on Grigg Road at Palm Center which is one of the most populated areas of Houston. Public high demand, facility age and conditions, and limited available space for expansion were among reasons that prompted planning of a new larger replacement facility across the street. The Design Build project is headed by Gilbane and was designed to achieve LEED Silver. Measures implemented to achieve this LEED goal are high efficiency lighting and HVAC systems including under-floor air distribution system. Infrastructure Associates provided Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing design services as well as Construction Administration services. As of June 2017, Young Library was LEED Silver Certified. |
