PROJECT BACKGROUND
Infrastructure Associates was asked by the Harris County Toll Road Authority to evaluate and provide design solutions for the emergency system at the Wilshire Place facility. This facility contains employee office space and the primary HCTRA data center. HCTRA employees had experienced a situation that required the emergency system to operate, and were concerned when the standby and emergency generators did not perform as expected. HCTRA wanted the project to progress quickly because of the necessity of having the building function during an emergency. IA engineers developed a deficiency report, and provided design solutions in under a month. Construction began shortly after, and IA provided CM services and commissioning for the project. ELECTRICAL DESIGN IA engineers provided design solutions to address immediate corrective actions for the data center consisting of the decoupling of (2) transfer switches via transfer-inhibition signal cabling and re-circuiting of select branches to alleviate an overloaded breaker feeding the data center. The design focus was to keep one generator dedicated to the data center and the other generator dedicated to the base building. IA also provided design for further corrective actions for the base building. |
